The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter celebrated 49th Engineers’ Day on 7th November 2016 at the prestigious venue of Multipurpose Hall of Arab Organization HQ. Event witnessed gathering and participation of large number of members and guests from Ministries, Universities, Public Authorities, KSE, KISR, consulting offices, manufacturing and other industries. Every year IEI celebrates the Engineers’ Day in memory of the country’s great Engineer, Statesman and Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary. Accordingly a central theme of national importance is chosen and deliberated at various centres by IEI every year to educate the society in general and Engineering Fraternity in particular. This Theme for this year Engineers' Day was "Skill Development for Young Engineers to Reform the Core Sector: Vision 2025."
Dr. Abdul Razzak Rumane, Chairman, IEI Kuwait Chapter in his welcome address welcomed and extended greetings to all guests, members of Kuwait chapter, sponsors and supporters. He welcomed Sh Subashis Goldar, Dy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India. He welcomed Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Matar Al Mutairi, Undersecretary Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour.He welcomed Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Matar Al Mutairi, Undersecretary Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour. He welcomed Guest of Honour, Engineer Ahmad, Undersecretary, MSNA, and Deputy Chairman Voluntary Works Center.
He said that this Day is dedicated to Engineers and India is the only country which marked a Day to recognize Engineering professional. "Service to Mankind" is the fundamental aspects of IEI, which is the dignity of IEI. This year theme has great relevance with DEVELOPMENT and SUSTAINABILITY, which is a biggest challenge for engineers to make India a big economy and manufacturing hub with latest technology.
IEI, Kuwait chapter was established in 1995. Since its establishment It has strived to provide knowledge in engineering and science to its members and engineering community in Kuwait by organizing technical seminars, workshops to improve and enhance their knowledge which ultimately will have great input in their work performance and implementations resulting qualitative output of their projects and work obligations. IEI, Kuwait chapter in cooperation with the support of Embassy of India is successfully conducting AMIE examination, which is considered equivalent to Engineering Degree, by providing an opportunity to aspirant candidates to further their studies in engineering field. IEI, Kuwait chapter has very good working relations with various local authorities, organizations and they support us in our various activities.
Sh Subashis Goldar, in his speech thanked IEI, Kuwait chapter for their invitation and conveyed greetings from HE Sh Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to the State of Kuwait to all the members. He congratulated gathering of Engineers on the 49th Engineers Day celebration in Kuwait. He also appreciated IEI Kuwait chapter activities and role of Indian Engineers.
Dr. Matar Al Mutairi, Undersecretary Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, in his speech appreciated the role of Indian Engineers and also recollected his memories of India visit. He wished everyone a great success and assured his services to the members. He released the Souvenir 2016 on this occasion.
Engineer Ahmad, Undersecretary, MSNA, and Deputy Chairman Voluntary Works Center was greeted with a big round of applause when he began speaking. This is due to his important role and support to IEI Kuwait Chapter. He read his message for the Engineers day and wished great success for the event.
For this occasion, Key note speakers were distinctly selected.
Dr Suad Alfuraih, Board member at Kuwait Voluntary Work Centre, Founder of Kuwait Voluntary Celiac Awareness Team, It Consultant and Author of many books delivered the first Key Note Speech.
Ms Chaitali B Roy, Senior Correspondent Arab Times and author of book “Women of Kuwait: Turning Tides” delivered the second key note speech. She spoke on the skills of Kuwaiti Women which inspired her to write this book.
Engr Afzal Ali, Accredited Trainer, Counselling Psychologist, Technical Consultant delivered the key note speech on “Assessment and Development of Skills of an Engineer”.
Entire Program was managed by a group of MCs led by Dr Sabiha Bilgrami alongwith Ms Archna Jain and Engr Farzeen Rumane.
Mementos were presented to guests, speakers, sponsors, excom members of 2015-2016 and MCs. Engr Sudhir Menghani was presented a Memento for winning the cover page design for Souvenir 2016.
Engr Rishabh Nath Jain, General Secretary, IEI Kuwait chapter delivered the vote of thanks. He thanked all the Guests, Speakers, Sponsors, Participants and Supporters. Dinner was served.
