IEI Kuwait Chapter celebrated 48th Engineers’s Day on 30th November 2015 in Kuwait


IEI Kuwait Chapter celebrated the 48th Engineers' day on 30th Nov. 2015 at the prestigious Arab Organization Head quarters building, Shuwaikh, Kuwait. 

IEI Kuwait Chapter has been celebrating Engineers’ Day for the past 21 years and this year’s event dazzled with the presence of IEI president Dr. Muralikrishna Reddy.

The galaxy of special attendees of the event includes H.E Shri. Sunil Jain, The Ambassador of India to the State of Kuwait, Eng. Awatef Soliman Al Ghoneim, Under Secretary, Ministry of Public Works(MPW), Kuwait, Eng. Ahmed Al Mershed, Undersecretary, Ministry of State National Assembly and Dy. Chairman Voluntary Works centre, Dr.Manaf Behbehani Consultant and Environmental expert.

Key note speakers include Eng. Fadhel Abul Hasan, Ex. Asst. Under Secretary, Ministry of Communications Kuwait and Dr.S. Neelamani, Senior Research scientist, Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain also spoke on the occasion and said that same like economic divide, digital divide also is on the rise and India is working towards the total internet penetration across the country. The contribution of Indian Engineers in Kuwait takes the tie between the two countries forward, Ambassador said.

Indian Engineers are playing a major role in the construction sector of Kuwait, said Engr. Awtef Soliman Al Ghoneim, Under Secretary of Ministry of Public Works. "Kuwait is currently executing large number of infrastructure projects in various sectors. The challenges are high and this need advanced knowledge. The Engineers play a key role in the execution of these projects starting from selecting the raw material to the finishing of the projects", she said. "The role played by Indian Engineers is highly appreciable and I congratulate Indian Engineers," Under Secretary said.

Under Secretary Ahmad Al Mershed, during his short speech, said that India and Kuwait are the two faces of a coin. Dr Manaf Behbehani, in his speech, requested the engineers to consider the environment in all engineering projects. "Any project which hurts the environment is not a good project", he said. He also urged Institution of Engineers to create forum for women engineers. Dr Manaf Behbehani urged engineers to maintain the national heritage in the buildings they are constructing.

IEI president Dr. Muralikrishna reddy spoke at length about IEI’s role for Indian Engineers, Various research and academic initiatives of IEI and its commitment to the Engineering fraternity.

Key note speeches on the topic 'Engineering Challenges for Knowledge Era' was conducted by Engr. Fadhel Abul Hasan, Former Under Secretary, Ministry of Communication and IEEE Kuwait Treasurer and Dr S. Neelamani, Senior Research Scientist, KISR. Fadhel Abul Hasan said that the 4 words Engineering, Challenges, Knowledge and Era and interlinked and connects our life together. Dr Neelamani in his speech told the importance of increasing our productivity to achieve the goal.

IEI Kuwait Chapter Hon Chairman Eng. S.Krishnan in his welcome address explained the role played by IEI for the career advancement of Engineers, the various technical seminars and other activities conducted by IEI Kuwait chapter. He also elaborated on the important responsibility for the future Engineers in order to meet the Challenges for Knowledge Era.

A souvenir to commemorate the occasion was also released which include articles submitted by members on this year’s theme “Engineering challenges for knowledge era”

IEI Kuwait Chapter Hon. Gen. Secretary Dr. Mahendhran proposed vote of thanks.

The event was attended by over 250 engineers, including IEI Kuwait Chapter members, Industry professionals, Engineers from various ministry and other private sector organizations. The meeting was followed by a lavish buffet dinner.
