Er. Karunagaran was born and brought up in Pondicherry State of India. After completing his bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) in first class. (the first batch for this new course introduced in 1969), then he joined in public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) South India. That time he got married and was blessed with 3 months old daughter.
Due to his desire to grow further in his career, he tried to reach the shores of USA for Master degree. As a huge sum of Rs.20 Lakhs was to be shown as bank guarantee for meeting his living expenses to get USA visa he alternatively started to look for Middle East jobs. That was the time most of the employees from Neyveli were migrating to Gulf. Kuwait MEW’s selection team came to Chennai, and he got selected and started working in Ministry of Electricity and Water from 1982 at Kuwait Doha West Power Station, a huge 2400 MW project in Kuwait. He spent his enter service career with MEW, even during the Gulf War , I ,II and the COVID -19 crises.
Now time has come at age of 71 years, to take a decision to go back to his native place Pondicherry, India after serving 41 years of glorious services to the Kuwait community. He has expressed his indebtedness to the Kuwaiti people and Kuwait Government for providing him good life in Kuwait and for the good savings he could build to brighten his children’s career and others in India.
To tone his skills in English, he joined and finished his certification from Toast Master Club.
Engr. Karunagaran FIE joined IEI Kuwait Chapter and was one of the founder members of IEI Kuwait chapter who involved in various IEI activities. He served as a Committee member several times, Joint Secretary, Hon. Secretary in IEI Kuwait Chapter. His contributions to build IEI – Kuwait chapter during the earlier periods were of immense contributions.
Er. Karunagaran is going back to motherland India carrying all these sweet memories that happened at different phases he passed in his life journey in Kuwait.
Sincerely and whole heartedly he expresses his gratitude to Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water, different dignities and Kuwaiti managers. Especially his beloved and respectful Ex. AUS Faisal AL Mudhaf and Ex. Director Mohammad AL-Ali and members of IEI Kuwait Chapter, colleagues, and Friends for all the love and affection showered on him during his long stay in Kuwait.

Er. Karunagaran lives with his wife; and has two daughters who are well settled, one in Kuwait and second one in USA California.

IEI – Kuwait Chapter executive committee members and Seniors met Er. Karunagaran at his daughter’s residence in Salmiya on 20 Feb 2023 to felicitate and honour with a memento for his laudable services to IEI Kuwait chapter and bid him warm farewell.
